Sajid, Iqbal tons take PIA to victory

Centuries from Kamran Sajid and Faisal Iqbal lifted Pakistan International Airlines to 306 for 3, which was beyond the reach of Quetta Bears, who were bowled out for 269. Sajid faced 145 balls and made an unbeaten 134 with 10 fours and one six while Iqbal cracked 119 off 102 with six fours and five sixes. In reply, Zubair Khan, Mirwais Tareen and Rameez Raja made fifties but none of them could go beyond 56. There were no other notable contributions for Bears. Mohammad Ibrahim took three wickets for PIA while Sajid and Aizaz Cheema took two each.

Bismillah Khan's unbeaten 145 was in vain as Hyderabad Hawks chased down 293 against United Bank Limited with four wickets and three balls to spare. Hawks had an opening stand of 85 between Haris Khan (52) and Zeeshan Gul (24). Azeem Ghumman (69) and Faisal Athar (92) built on that with a 153-run third-wicket stand. UBL hit back with quick wickets but Mir Ali stole the win with an unbeaten 17 off five balls, off which he hit a four and two sixes. Opener Bismillah had batted through the innings for UBL, facing 133 balls and hitting 17 fours. Ali Asad's 49 was the next highest score.

Abbottabad Falcons defended 241 against Sialkot Stallions, who were bowled out for 215 in the 48th over. Haris Khan took three wickets, while Shakeel Ahmed and Inam Khan chipped in with two strikes each. The only Stallions batsman to get past 35 was Faisal Khan, who scored 56. Falcons' innings had been built on half-centuries from Khalilullah and Nasir Khan, who both made 57. Hasan Ali was the most successful bowler for Stallions with 4 for 48 while Waqas Ahmed took 3 for 49.

Water and Power Development Authority crushed Bahawalpur Stags by seven wickets after dismissing them for 121. Stags were asked to bat first but apart from Moinuddin, who made 54, none of their batsmen could made impact. The last six batsmen to fall could not get into double figures. Waqas Maqsood and Khalid Usman grabbed three wickets each as Stags lasted 43.3 overs. Mohammad Fayyaz and Iftikhar Ahmed set WAPDA on their way with an opening stand of 64 and captain Naved-ul-Hasan saw them home as early as the 19th over with a swift, unbeaten 28.

Sui Southern Gas Corporation hammered Lahore Eagles by 102 runs, riding on twin centuries from Awais Zia and Muzammil Nizam. Eagles chose to bowl and watched SSGC zoom to 310 for 7. Zia struck 112 off 88 with 17 fours while Nizam played the patient hand, facing 146 balls for his 114. The pair helped their side recover from 25 for 2 and some late hitting from Tariq Haroon and Mohammad Irfan pushed the score past 300. Mohammad Waheed made an unbeaten 75 in the chase but lacked support from the other Eagles batsmen. Adnan Ghaus led with three strikes, while Nasir Malik and Faheem Ahmed struck twice each as Eagles were dismissed for 208 in 45 overs.

The Pakistan Television openers Raheel Majeed and Mohammad Naeem struck hundreds to set up their side's chase of 269 against Multan Tigers. The pair put on 193 before Majeed departed for 102 off 125. PTV lost a couple of quick wickets after that, but Naeem stayed till the end, hitting 115 off 136 to take his side home in the final over. Ammar Ali (88) and Abdul Rehman Muzammil (53) were the leading run-getters for Tigers but barring their 99-run third-wicket stand, Tigers were not able to build big partnerships and lost too many wickets at the death.
