Scorecard
Fifties from Manoj Tiwary and Manish Pandey and a five-for from fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni set up India A's comprehensive 70-run win over South Africa A in Darwin. India A took away five points from the game for the big victory margin.
Batting first, India A amassed a score of 7 for 326, riding on fifties from Pandey and Tiwary, who also shared a 124-run partnership for the third wicket. The pair were brisk at the crease - while Pandey's 91 came off 108 balls with seven fours and a six, Tiwary slammed 93 off 73 balls with 10 hits in all to the boundary.
Tiwary and Pandey received good support from the other Indian batsmen. Unmukt Chand scored a quick 47 to help India A recover from the early loss of Robin Uthappa. Ambati Rayudu and Sanju Samson also chipped in with cameos that ensured India A did not lose the momentum built by the big stand. The only South Africa A bowler to have an impact on the Indian innings was Marchant de Lange, who dismissed both Pandey and Tiwary on his way to figures of 5 for 64.
South Africa A's openers gave the side a good start with a partnership of 54 but the India A bowlers kept chipping away, picking up wickets in clusters. Kulkarni struck at key moments in the game, dismantling the threatening partnerships. He dismissed opener Heino Kuhn and then brought an important fifth-wicket stand between Farhaan Behardien and Justin Ontong to an end, removing Behardien, Simon Harmer and Ontong in quick succession. Parvez Rasool was also among the wickets for India with 2 for 48, which included the dismissal of top-scorer Reeza Hendricks (52), while Akshar Patel and Ambati Rayudu picked up a wicket each.
